Plasma glutamine was measured, following ultrafiltration by high performance liquid chromatography with a mean recovery of 96.75%, linearity of the measurement was in the range of 130 to 1300 μmol/L (r= 0.9906). Normal values in healthy adults was (694.97 ±102.31 ) μmol/L in male and (623.79±99.27) μmol/L in female with a significant difference (P＜0.05 ). The method is simple,efficient in performance and can be applied in the study of bowel structure and function and in routine measuements in nutritional support.
