Osteogenic protein-1(OP-1, or bone morphogenetic protein-7) is a member of the transforming growth factor(TGF)-β superfamily. It has been testified that recombinant human OP-1(hOP-1) indicated potent bone-inductive efficiency in vitro and in vivo. The satisfactory results were obtained from healing bone defects in many kinds of experimental animals with hOP-1.Recombinant hOP-1 has prospective clinical application.
