    Abstract:

Molecular beacons are hairpin-shaped oligonucleotide with a fluorescent moiety and a non-fluorescent quenching moiety attaching to each ends and can be used to report the presence of specific nucleic acids in homogeneous solution or in living cells. The design principles and advantage of molecular beacon and the application for gene mutation detection were briefly introduced.
