    Abstract:

DNA methylation at the 5 position of cytosine is one of the most important epigenetic modifications in vertebrate, which regulate gene expression in conjunction with specific protein readers to readout the methyl marks. This review focuses on two major classes of methyl DNAreaders, MBD and SRA domains, and discusses their structural bases and molecular mechanisms of recognizing different types of DNA modification marks.
