Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease caused by the combined effects of genetic and environmental factors, which leads to defective insulin secretion or impaired physiological effects, and consequently persistent?elevated blood glucose. Poor long?term glycemic control in diabetic patients can induce multiple complications, including diabetic nephropathy, encephalopathy, tendinopathy, cardiomyopathy, muscle atrophy and peripheral neuropathy. As a non?pharmacological, proactive intervention to ameliorate insulin resistance, protect the function of multiple target organs and regulate metabolic homeostasis, exercise represents the lowest?cost and most?beneficial strategy for the precise prevention and management of diabetes and its complications. Multimodal Combined Interventions, which adopt diverse forms of physical activity and emphasize the synergistic involvement of multiple physiological systems, may be more conducive to the overall recovery of physical function and the improvement of quality of life in patients with diabetes.
