The effect of intron on gene expression in transgenic animal is reviewed.The difference between natural and heterologous introns in increasing gene expression efficiency is analyzed and three possible mechanisms which introns promote gene expression in transgenic animal are discussed.It is necessary to consider intron effects on constructing expression vectors of producing transgenic animal.
