A DNA analogue was designed in a computer model by replacing the deoxyribose phosphate backbone in DNA with a peptide backbone. Its binding to the complementary oligonucleotide was observed with great specificity. PNA's synthesis, hybridization and its application in moleuclar biology etc. were reviewed.
