    Abstract:

Neurofibrillary tangle (NFT), paired helical filament (PHF) as the major component, is an important pathological character of Alzheimer's disease. Further evidence suggests that PHF plays an important role in neural cell death, including necrotic and apoptotic death. Induction of reactive oxygen species (ROS) by PHF production may be an important mechanism of neural cell death.
